Oarsman Capital, a Registered Investment Advisor, was founded in 2000 by Robert Phelps and Alan Purintun. Prior to founding Oarsman, Phelps and Purintun were portfolio managers in Robert W. Baird & Company's portfolio management department, Baird Investment Management. The Phelps/Purintun team has worked together managing client portfolios for more than a decade.

Like the dedicated oarsman, we also strive for stability and consistency. We add stability to our clients’ equity portfolios by blending a well diversifed core portfolio (see description of core portfolio) with performance enhancing complementary asset classes, such as international, small-cap and emerging market stocks. Balanced or fixed-income portfolios have even greater stability with a mix of high-quality bonds anchoring and providing income in the core portfolio.
